My old fingers need 1 3/4., my classical is 2” at the nut and it’s fine with those thick strings, but a steel string that’s 1 11/16 better have the lowest action possible, or I play like a child making sure my fingers are placed perfectly. But with 1 3/4 or 1 13/16 makes me confident. People ask me how that little extra string spacing makes a difference. You got me ??? but it sure does

I'm glad you like it. I have to correct you... Micarta is a composite (like Richlite), but instead of layers of wood it is composed of layers of cloth - usually linen. It's not as processed as Richlite, and is of slightly lower quality as a material. Ebonol is a different brand of composite made with a slightly different process. All 3 composites are about 65% solid materials, and 35% resin. There is also Rocklite, which layers wood and resin to make a high quality composite. All 4 make an excellent material for musical instruments of all kinds. Ebonol is popular for clarinets, for instance. All are machinable, and are impervious to most liquids. Most resist heat and cold extremes very well. They are usually heavier than the material they are replacing.

I got the natural wood finish one and, like you, I had very little to do to get it playable. I guess I got lucky with the bridge pick up, because the one on mine has all vintage tele twang you'd ever need. (SINGS: "Sometimes I'm a country boy" 😉 I have two other Teles whose pick ups sound more modern, perhaps, (A Gear4Music Semi-Hollow and a Sire - the latter plays beautifully) but for €89 I got the sound that was lacking on those more expensive guitars. I only hope the cheap price reflects them being made by computer directed robots, rather than sweat shop carpenters. 🙄

A true wood / paper/ phenolic resin composite, also has excellent heat dissipation qualities. You can basically build a performance carburetor spacer out of it and outperform aluminum at least 2%.on temperatures. Some phenolic spacers have outperformed aluminum spacers to the tune of +5hp. This obviously has it's benefits on guitar, as the material is not as prone to weather as ebony or other wood fretboards. When Ebony is like a fat bursting acidic jalapeno pepper, that increases in value into spice rack and sauce, RICHLITE is like money glued together and stays money yet decreases in resale value. The thing is this, when it comes to sound, the Richlite outperformed the ebony all over the frequency spectrum, however it is sometimes percieved with less bright attack because of more filled out, however it is all still in there with the bright attack, with slightly more potent energy. Martin guitars knows. Couple a richlite fretboard with stainless steel frets hard diamond coated with my stainless locking nut. Oh yeah. It is going to sound great, you can bet your solo tracks. Thought of creating an impossible tone machine, like say an entire guitar out of solid ebony? Use richlite man, the thing shall be awe inspiring and tone unstoppable.

Nice video! I own of their base model D1 which is based on the D16 Martin, which I bought as a beater guitar. I was actually impressed that for the price the guitar was constructed from wood and no laminate. I spoke with Joe at GAEA, the factory where these are made and I was equally impressed by his professionalism. He offered to replace my guitar or send me the parts I needed to fix my issue even though I was outside of the warranty period.

Owned an A1M for 8 months. Its been called the "best sounding" guitar in the room more than once. Hard to believe its Chinese, but I've always figured people all over the people can create high quality if given the best tools and production methods. Would love to compare it to the the Yamaha Red Label Japanese model.

I've had one for awhile, finally I measured and filed the frets and put some fancy strings on it. A ressurection. Wonderful short scale. It's actually slightly larger than the Oliver Jr, according to the website. Great on the couch, in bed or to throw in the car. Thanks for another good video :)

Just bought one yesterday in natural. I cant put it down. Such a nice sounding instrument. I have four Yamaha guitars at the moment. LL16D, LL16/12, FG820 and now the CSF3M. I love them all and this little thing is so surprisingly punchy and sweet sounding and a joy to play. Love your review, cheers.

Nut width and scale length importance are what a bunch of affordable guitars have taught me. 24" scale like Jaguar or Mustang electrics are a wet dream to play. When you get older it's even more of a big deal. I just ordered a Cordoba Cadete because of it's 615mm scale and 48mm nut width, because my hands love the shortscale. I'm 6'1" age 66. I hope to play for many years. The CV Squire Jag was my first with 24" scale....I have flatwounds on it. So good I found a IYV Mustang copy people like, it's coming too, and a Gretch "Jim Dandy", acoustic steel..24" scale...and now the Cadete (24.2"), because I do like the nylon Guitars. There is also the Fender CN-60S, but that nut is 42mm, which, for nylon I think is over the top., and the scale is 25.5. I'll play other guitars but....if this quiver sounds good...I might do some selling LOL TLDR: Nuts matter....Scale length even more.

I was looking for a 24 inch scale acoustic.....after "discovering" how much easier they are to play (Classic Vibe Jag)...and just stumbled on the Gretsch G9500 Jim Dandy 24-Inch Scale Flat Top...$180 on Amazon, with stellar reviews. Pulled Trig. Could this be the first time I "found" a cool affrodable guitar you had not reviewed?

I think Orangewood will be my next guitar. I have a Seagull Entourage Rustic, that I've had for 15 years or so, and my Epiphone Hummingbird, but I want something smaller, because my shoulder is giving me a hard time. I really like Orangewood's Oliver Jr, because it's tone seems a little deeper, but I wonder if it's worth the extra $100.

I ran into problems buying a gotoh tuneomatic, thinking I could just change out the thumb wheel, and get the adapters, uses the existing body studs allowing you to go from large post to small, seems real Gibson LPs have a wider bridge than the imports do,the gotoh wouldn’t fit,I did get a Nashville small post for it, but I had to turn the saddles around to make it into a tuneomatic, there was a noticeable improvement.

I replied to store manager in email: "BS, this should be NIB, as show in reciept, please find one" Guess what...they did, or claim they did, at another store. It's coming. I'll report :)

I never thought I'd own a squier. But the "Classic Vibe" Jaguar caught my eye because of the very short scale...and all those switches. I had to pay 399. It showed up looking a bit rough, but I did my "monoprice" setup, and threw on 12-52 Chrome Flats. I am in love. The pickups are killer, and it makes a huge range of tones. The neck is a dream. I also have a classic Vibe bass VI coming, 460US from Amazon...because there is no other clone. I expect setup issues, LOL.

I think you're going a bit far comparing that half a ton of plywood with the Masterbilt Dr 500 series as the Dr 500 is solid wood not cheap wop ply and if you take the neck off you'll find that the sound oard of the Eko is in fact plywood and not solid as you seem to think
